Hidden away amongst all the pizzaz, lights and noise of the Sony conference yesterday, you would have been forgiven for missing the first peek at the heavily rumored steering wheel attachment for the PlayStation Move controller, designed primarily to be used with the upcoming Little Big Planet Karting.
As you can see it looks like something you might use to control a Batmobile, but apparently it will also work with a slew of other PlayStation racing games like Gran Turismo 5, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Motorstorm: Apocalypse.
The PlayStation Move Racing Wheel to give it it’s full name, boasts the following features:
• Precise motion tracking for responsive handling of your vehicle
• An innovative folding grip design will allow you to switch between racing a sports bike to a high-octane supercar
• Feel the intense vibration feedback of your vehicle as you trade paint with the competition
• Experience realistic gameplay action using the race car paddle shifters and motorcycle twist throttle controls
It seems like a pretty odd design and looks like it could feel pretty cheap as it seems to have a light aura of third-party about it. Judging by Sony’s usual build quality however I’m sure it will turn out fine. Expect a hands-on from us around Gamescom in August, before the peripherals launch during Fall, at a cost of $39.99. No news on other countries yet.
