PlayStation All Stars Battle Royale has garnered a lot of interest since it was announced by Sony and it was soon being labeled as a rival to Super Smash Bros., which is synonymous with the fighting game genre. Sony was secretive about whether the game would just be on the PS3 but it has confirmed that it addition to the aforementioned console, it will also be making its way over to the PlayStation Vita with cross-platform gameplay. As well as this great news, it has also been confirmed that Nathan Drake from the Uncharted series and the Big Daddy from BioShock will be playable in the game.
All was revealed on the US PlayStation blog by Omar Kendall, the Game Director at SuperBot Entertainment. It was also shown as part of Sony’s E3 conference. Cross-platform support was confirmed which means that gamers on the PlayStation 3 will be able to face off against their counterparts on the PlayStation Vita. This will be done over both local and online play. The PlayStation All Stars on PS Vita takes advantage of many of the unique Vita features, including “near” functionality and both front touchscreen and rear touchpad support.
So Nathan Drake and the Big Daddy join the intriguing list of characters announced for All Stars which includes Twisted Metal’s Sweet Tooth and God of War’s Kratos. Sony will slowly announce more characters in the lead up to the game’s release so keep it here at ZKG for all the latest information. A final word on the game, I think that this is looking like it is going to be one very fun game to play although like many others I can’t help but think that this is just the Sony attempt at replicating Super Smash Bros. success. What do you think?
