Forza Horizon has done what fans have waited for and drove 100mph into a release date. During the Microsoft E3 conference, a release date of October 25th was given to the thrill-seeker racing game, with EA’s Need for Speed: Most Wanted landing a week later, Forza will be in a race for sales.

Forza-Horizon-1

The game will introduce a gorgeous open-road world for gamers to explore and will be set in an environment based on Colorado, USA, with 65 different types of terrain for those spinning wheels to drive on. Visually it looks amazing, like every Forza game, so expect whatever vehicle you’re driving to look borderline real. Microsoft’s press release tells us more about the racer:

Forza Horizon combines the legendary Forza Motorsport authenticity you know and love with new action-based driving gameplay, rewarding you for your speed, skill and style behind the wheel. Drive the world’s most iconic cars as you compete in festival events, race for pink slips in white-knuckle street races, or just show off your skills to increase your popularity rank. Team up or compete with friends and rivals in a variety of online race types, as well as playground modes. However you drive, you’ll find an entirely new level of challenge and fun on the open road.

The game is in development by Playground Games and Turn 10 studios, with Playground consisting of a team of developers who worked on such racing titles as, Blur, Split-Second, Pure and many more.  Dan Greenawalt, the head of Turn 10 studios, gave his thoughts on the studio collaboration:

I wouldn’t trust this partner as much as I do if I didn’t expect them to surprise me and surprise our players. I have respect for their ability to come up with great ideas. So I think yes, they are challenged by the customers the same way we are to surprise them with innovation. That’s how they see themselves, that’s how we see them, it’s how they see us. It’s really a shared goal.

After seeing the short gameplay trailer shown at E3, it is more than clear both developers are on the same page. With that said, Forza Horizon is looking more promising the more people get a look at it. The trailer can be viewed for your pleasure below.

When not fighting crime, I dabble in the art of online journalism. Alright, maybe it's not as exciting as headbutting everyday felons like a modern Bruce Wayne, but I need something that doesn't involve bludgeoning something. Get my kicks playing on a fat 80gb PS3, really need an upgrade......and a shave.
