Electronic Arts has finally made the long rumored Battlefield Premium official. Battlefield Premium will cost you $50 and unlike Call Of Duty Elite, you will need to pay that all up front, but it is $10 cheaper. So what do you get for your hard-earned cash? Members who pay the $50 fee will receive special privileges features including the ability to erase their game statistics, as well as special items in games such as dogtagsand knives. PS3 gamers will get to play new parts of the game two weeks earlier than non-members, take that Call Of Duty. So if you are an Xbox or PC Battlefield Premium member you still have to wait, just like PS3 and PC players have to wait on Call Of Duty content. I’ll take this opportunity to say it again, timed exclusives are just dumb and do nothing to help gamers. The announcement didn’t mention getting access to the game’s five announced map packs, we are sure that’s just an omission since the leaked trailer already pointed that out.

They also revealed a pretty titillating fact, something that will make the success of Battlefield Premium all the more important, they revealed that the next Battlefield game won’t be out until at least 2013. The piece didn’t talk about when the service would launch but the leaked factsheet from a few days ago indicates it could be as early as today.  I guess that means this trailer is now official. :) Stay tuned.
