Insomniac Games is gearing up to blast us with another taste of Ratchet & Clank this fall. Over the past decade, the franchise has performed well in sales for Sony as a one platform exclusive. To celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the first games release back in 2002, “Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault” will be making its way to the PSN for the PlayStation 3 later in the year.
The game was announced by Insomniac Games CEO Ted Price, through the US Playstation Blog recently. Full Frontal Assault ( Q-force in Europe ) promises to return the series to its root gameplay, with the traditional third-person camera, controls and weapons. Price told the PlayStation Blog:
Ratchet & Clank: Full Frontal Assault is a fun-sized Ratchet adventure which will be available for download exclusively on the PlayStation Store. We’ve returned to the series’ classic feel, camera, controls and weapons, while innovating and giving you a whole new way to play. Even better, the addition of online features means you can experience Full Frontal Assault with your friends, so stay tuned! We’re really excited about this game, and we hope even these small tidbits about it get you excited too.
The possibility of playing with friends fits in nicely with the ratchet & Clank series, the game screams fun, about what shape or form it will come in, we still don’t know. We also have the Ratchet & Clank HD Collection to look forward to, remastering some of its most successful PS2 Ratchet & Clank titles in beautiful High Definition. Unfortunately, no date has been set for the collection. Price did promise an update soon, along with a surprise for those lucky enough to live in North America, we might find out more details at E3 when the debut trailer for the game is revealed.
