As technology keeps out doing itself, everyone is trying to adapt to the ever rising level of innovation. The gaming industry thrives on it and with the Wii U set for its major reveal at E3 2012, it will begin the age of next-generation consoles. With Sony creating the PlayStation 4 and Microsoft creating the Xbox 720, Infinity Ward also wants a piece of the next-gen action, as a job listing by the studio stated.
The developers behind the multi-million selling shooter Modern Warfare 3 put up a job listing for a senior network engineer with interest in the first-person shooter genre. An excerpt from the listing said:
Come work with the game industry’s brightest to design and implement high level network code for an exciting unannounced title for next generation console systems
If one wanted the job, they would need experience working with current generation consoles, Proficiency in C and C++ and a B.S. in Computer Science and or Mathematics. Applying for this position is a job but the opportunity to work on next-gen consoles will attract a lot of applicants.
As for what the “unannounced” project will be, it’s too early to tell. With Treyarch working on Black Ops 2, it will be Infinity Ward’s turn at the wheel for 2013, which could mean Modern Warfare 4 might be in the works. But hey, at least we know it will be a first person shooter.
