Sony has announced that the PlayStation Network will unfortunately have to undergo a scheduled maintenance this Thursday, 24th of May. Sony is looking to make sure everything on the PSN front is top-notch after such a busy month of adding new content.
While PSN is under the knife, gamers will still be able to play games online, enter Netflix and browse other apps. This is only possible however if you have logged into your PlayStation account 5 days before the start of the scheduled maintenance (before 10AM EST 24 May).
The times specified for the maintenance are as follows:
- United States: Beginning at 8:00 am PDT / 10:00 am EDT and concluding around 11:00pm PDT / 2:00am EDT on Thursday, May 24th.
- Europe: Beginning at 16:00 (BST) on Thursday, May 24th and concluding around 08:00 (BST) on Friday, May 25th.
The European Playstation Blog reported that gamers in Europe will be unable to get access to the PlayStation Store on PS3, PSP and PS Vita.
Sony also said via their US PS Blog:
Regular maintenance is a necessary part of operating a service such as PSN. As part of our efforts to continue to deliver you a world-class online entertainment experience on your PS3 and PS Vita devices. We will update you with any changes that may occur in regards to this maintenance. If you would like to receive a notice when PSN is fully restored, be sure to follow the official PlayStation Twitter account.
So there you have it, make sure you get signing in if you haven’t the last 5 days before the maintenance starts. You never know, you might even find yourself outside and who the hell wants that!
