It looks like 2013 is going to be a great year for gaming, as Capcom has finally revealed the release date for upcoming slash and bash reboot of Devil May Cry. The fifth game of the series is set to hit stores worldwide on the 15th of January, making it one of the first major releases of 2013. In development at Ninja Theory, Devil May Cry (or DmC for short), will be available for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360, with a PC version expected sometime later in the year.
The game will follow Dante as he journeys through the fictitious Limbo City, with demons and other monstrosities who frequently attempt to kill him. With access to several guns, swords and demonic powers, many are excited at the prospect of a brand new game.
With January being usually a slow month for games, as everyone is still broke from Christmas, retailing a game around this time might seem odd. Capcom however has done this before, previously releasing Resident Evil 4 and Lost Planet: Extreme Condition in the first month of the year.
In the press release Capcom announced the release date in, they also gave us a glimpse of a new female character by the name “Kat”. A gifted psychic who can see into the demon realm, also described as a lot more soft than the usual female characters DmC is used to.
With E3 2012 staring us in the face, we will be waiting for any other news Capcom can shove our way and hopefully calm the hatred fans have shown over the drastic character change Dante went through. It got so bad that it also led to Ninja Theory receiving death threats, who knew gaming could be so violent.
