BioWare Looking For Your Dragon Age 3 Ideas

BioWare hasn’t been having the best 2012, let’s be honest. With the backlash over the ending of Mass Effect 3 ever looming over their heads and subscribers dropping from Star Wars: The Old Republic like flies, it’s nothing short of a headache for the developers. Trying to learn from their mistakes, the team at BioWare is looking to the fans to help shape upcoming title, Dragon Age 3.

After Dragon Wars 2 was rushed to market, it did make a few improvements from the first in the series, but not changes that would catapult the series to the next level. So how are they planning to revive the franchise? The developer plans to post monthly topics on their blog where gamers can make suggestions on what path the upcoming title should take.

To show how fans of the franchise can go about getting their ideas heard, BioWare’s Jessica Merizan posted a short statement on the developers Blog:

Beginning today, we’ll do a series of questions and discussions around Dragon Age. Consider this a conversation between fans, the community team, and the developers. Everyone at BioWare is incredibly excited about the future of the franchise but we’re interested in what you have to say. Every month, we will discuss a topic or question about Dragon Age and game development. You will have one week to post your thoughts, desires, and hopes before we close the thread for review. Moderators and developers will pop into the thread to chat every now and again, so keep an eye out.

These questions and discussions are not only for future games, but other potential products like novels, animated features, pen and paper RPGs, and comics – all of which offer us opportunities to expand on parts of the world.

BioWare has extended somewhat of an olive branch to many they have angered, allowing the fans so much access on the creative side, it could be a stepping stone on how developers interact with their fans. On the other hand, it could just be another case of too many cooks spoil the broth and Dragon Age 3 could just be another headache for BioWare to deal with. Hit up the comments and let us know your thoughts.

When not fighting crime, I dabble in the art of online journalism. Alright, maybe it's not as exciting as headbutting everyday felons like a modern Bruce Wayne, but I need something that doesn't involve bludgeoning something. Get my kicks playing on a fat 80gb PS3, really need an upgrade......and a shave.
