Many PC gamers have been waiting like vultures for any news of a release date for highly anticipated fantasy game Guild Wars 2. Unfortunately, a pre-order promotional flyer posted by Fry’s retailer, which seemed to show the release date for the game, has been played down by the games publisher “NCsoft”.
The promotional poster, which gaming website Kotaku got wind of, showed the release date for the MMO as the 28th of June. This however isn’t the first release date to make the light of day. For example, gaming retailer GameStop put the release date as June 26th, while Amazon.de put the date for release as June 30th. Given how legit the pre-order poster looked, Kotaku got in touch with NCsoft to try get some truth on the matter. They stated:
“We have not released an official launch date within 2012 as feedback from our closed and open marketing betas will help us determine an exact release date. We will release Guild Wars 2 when it is ready.
Any release date that isn’t from the publisher itself should be taken with a pinch of salt, as most of them come up way too short. With the game only recently finished its first weekend of beta testing, with a stress test performed on Monday to iron out any issues the beta turned up, they look far from release.
Even though no concrete date has been set for Guild Wars 2, it is set to land at one point in 2012, many fingers pointing towards a July release.
