It’s always a good thing to know that the new rules don’t apply to you. The phrase “grandfathered in” does a lot to ease your worries when you perceive your current deal as the most beneficial. This is especially the case when it deals with wireless carriers that are always looking for the next profiting scheme. Sadly, that phrase has loss its’ meaning with Verizon Wireless customers looking to upgrade their current 3G devices to the companies 4G LTE lineup.
Starting with the launch of Verizon’s shared data plans this summer, Verizon has a special surprise for those “grandfathered” customers. According to Verizon’s CFO Fran Shammo, “Everyone will be on data share. If I can add as many devices as I want, that is more efficient from a family perspective and a small business perspective.” And later he goes on to say that, “A lot of our 3G base is on unlimited. When they migrate off 3G they will have to go to data share. That is beneficial to us.”
So there you have it Verizon Customers! Your $30 3G unlimited plan is in its’ final days. Honestly, I can’t say that I am happy about this. There are times when you love Big Red, but then there are times like these when you absolutely hate it. Fortunately, other carriers are more serious this time around with having a competitive network. Any thoughts on this crap?
