PSN has played host to some truly stunning games over the last few years. The relatively low development costs involved and consequently lower cost to the consumer has resulted in a degree of experimentation not seen in the gaming world since the days of bedroom programmers. Titles like Flower and Journey for example have gained both critical and commercial acclaim where gamers are prepared to take a chance on something only costing a few bucks.
Another original title that was talked about a few years back and then more or less forgotten was The Unfinished Swan. I’ll admit that the game had fallen completely off my radar but the recently released trailer makes it look really interesting.
Dubbed a ‘first person painting game’ which sounds like a genre it has all to itself at the moment, the player takes control of a boy called Monroe who is chasing a swan who has escaped from a painting. In the process you explore the world surrounding you by throwing paint at it, which enables the development of a gorgeous black and white world.
Artistically the game already looks to be a hit, and if the gameplay matches the look then we will be in for a treat. The Unfinished Swan is developed by Giant Sparrow, and is due for release exclusively to PSN soon. Oh, and more good news – the developer has confirmed that PS Move will also be supported.
