Last year Sprint finally got an iPhone, and now everyone is wondering if T-Mobile will officially join the party this year with the iPhone 5. Now of course, iPhone users have always been able to use T-Mobile’s network, but never any of the good stuff. That as it seems, will be changing by years end.
In addition to the possibility of an iPhone 5 launch this year at T-Mobile, it was revealed by the companies’ CFO that “A nice side benefit of the refarming effort is that our 4G network will be compatible with a broader range of devices, including the iPhone. The other important benefit of our network modernization effort is the coverage improvements it will deliver, especially when it comes to in-home coverage. As we refarm our 1900 spectrum, we will continue to fully support our customers with 2G devices.”
So basically, all he is referring to is the same HSPA+ network AT&T is using as its’ “4G” iPhone claim. Either way, with this and the eventual rollout of T-Mobile’s 4G LTE infrastructure, the company will in some way have the iPhone 5 and any other iPhone for the matter. Whether it’ll be official or not remains to be seen. What do you think?
