Bethesda Softworks has announced The Elder Scrolls Online, an MMO in development at ZeniMax Online Studios. The Elder Scrolls Online will be the first Elder Scrolls game to allow gamers to explore the legendary Elder Scrolls world with others. The Elder Scrolls Online is being developed for PC and Mac under the leadership of industry veteran Matt Firor, who has spent the last two decades working in online game development. Details about the game are revealed in an exclusive cover story in Game Informer’s June issue, which ships to subscribers and newsstands this month. Here’s what we know so far.
An Elder Scrolls MMO has been rumored for a while now so this wasn’t a complete shock. The game will be set in the land of Tamriel, everyone from Elsweyr to Skyrim and all points in between. The game is set to provide unmatched levels of exploration across multiple highly rich worlds combined with the social components that have made MMORPG’s so popular in the last few years. The game will be set over a millennium before the events of Skyrim as the daedric prince Molag Bal tries to pull all of Tamriel into his demonic realm. You will be able to go on solo quest and explore public dungeons but if you are up for more you will be able to get in on some PVP action that pits up to three player run factions against each other in deadly combat with the province of Cyrodiil and the Emperor’s throne itself at stake.
That’s all we got for now, but stay tuned tomorrow as Bethesda is scheduled to release a short teaser trailer and the first screenshot of the game. The Elder Scrolls Online is scheduled to come out in 2013 for both PC and Macintosh. The Elder Scrolls Online has not yet been rated by the ESRB. Folks have been talking about this for a while, hit up the comments and let us know what you think!!
