In the midst of excitement caused by the unveiling of New Super Mario Bros 2 for the 3DS, Nintendo also unleashed some other tit-bits of news during their online conference last week. One of the most exciting was a release date for Kingdom Hearts 3D: Dream Drop Distance.
Since the Nintendo Direct webcast, Square Enix has confirmed that the release date for the highly anticipated action RPG will be July 20th, for Europe at least. It is currently thought that the US version of the game will be released on July 31st. They also clarified a few extra pieces of info for the game:
- Dual protagonists – Play as the two most popular characters of the franchise, Sora and Riku.
- “Flowmotion” action – Enjoy fast and effortless movements while interacting with the environment and performing acrobatic attacks.
- Brand-new creatures – Dream Eaters inhabit the Sleeping Worlds, and are split into two categories: Spirits and Nightmares. Breed over 50 different types of Spirits as allies to fight alongside Sora and Riku.
- New Disney worlds – Disney worlds and characters, such as La Cité des Cloches (The Hunchback of Notre Dame), and “The Grid” (TRON: Legacy) make their series debut.
As long time readers of this site will no doubt be bored hearing by now, I am a massive fan of the Kingdom Hearts series, and this game certainly makes me rue my decision to sell my 3DS, and hope that a ‘3DS Lite’ will be announced soon to justify a new purchase! Although the loss of Donald and Goofy as battle partners is bothering me a little, I have no doubt that this will be a fantastic game when it is released. Now I just need Kingdom Hearts Collection for Vita and PS3 and my life will be complete!
