Animator’s Showreel Provides A Glimpse Of Cancelled Games

Remember Heavenly Sword, a much hyped actioner from the days of the PS3 launch that looked lovely but ultimately played like a bit of a dog? The title was developed by Ninja Theory, who it seems had plans for a sequel before it was canned and they went on to create Enslaved.

Could this have been PS3's mascot? If a second game got made, who knows?

This information has been leaked courtesy of an online CV and showreel for animator Martin Binfield. As well as mentioning a potential Heavenly Sword 2, it appears that Martin was also working with Studio Cambridge on other cancelled titles including a space themed 3rd person action game and The Getaway 3. Unfortunately the glimpse of The Getaway shown on the showreel is all stuff that has been seen before, but it does make me pine for a lost series that had a lot of potential. Both this game and Eight Days looked amazing at the time of the PS3 reveal.

Kudos to Martin for his great work – Did you enjoy Heavenly Sword? Would you have shelled out for a sequel? Do any of the other unmade games shown in the showreel catch your eye? Let us know below.
