343 Industries is currently hard at work on Halo 4, expected to be the Xbox 360’s big Holiday game this year. Although most of the game’s content is shrouded in secrecy until probably E3, some recent domain purchases by Microsoft have provided clues about the forthcoming blockbuster.
As reported by website Fusible, Microsoft has registered several Halo related domains recently, with names including; HaloInfinity.co,uk, HaloInfinityMultiplayer.co.uk, HaloInfinity.org and SpartanOps.org. Infinity as any major Halo buff will know, is both the name of a PC exclusive multiplayer level, and the name of a human star-ship in the Halo novels. No websites have been published so far, but the purchase of these domains means that Microsoft is planning to utilise those website addresses, or certainly don’t want anyone else using them.
At the very least, the fact that Infinity seems to be linked specifically to the word multiplayer indicates that the new Halo game will likely have a big focus on an online component. Perhaps Microsoft is considering that the current Call of Duty backlash may mean that a Halo title has the potential to be their big multiplayer game this Christmas? Regardless of whether that will be true, expect to hear much more about Halo 4 very soon.
