Ever since the 80’s, the Leisure Suit Larry series has been on a steady decline, with the titles released in the last decade regularly winning such awards as ‘stinker of the year’ for their unplayable nature and poor humor. The first game in the series however was a big hit both critically and financially, and fans via the Kickstarter site are hoping to create a remake of that original game. We won’t lie, compared to some other projects that have come through Kickstarter, LSL isn’t doing so good and its not that it doesn’t have a lot of backers, it does, it just doesn’t have as many big backers as the other projects.
The original developers of the game, Al Lowe, Josh Mandel, Sabine Duvall, and Leslie Balfour, are working together with Replay Games. The ultimate target is to raise $500,000 through the Kickstarter site to fund a remake of Leisure Suit Larry in the Lair of the Lounge Lizards for PC and tablets.
If the team raise more than the budget they promise to plough funds back into the game, possibly creating additional language support and maybe even other platform versions of the game. Concept art and a clip of what the game could look like in action are available for fans to view, and full HD visuals are promised if the final game gets made, along with a modern point and click interface.
I have recently been enjoying the Money Island games again through the PSN and there is certainly room for more remade adventure games in my opinion, what do you guys think? Any Leisure Suit Larry fans out there with some spare cash?
