According to this latest rumor, the Wii U is set to be released in the US on Sunday November 18th, 2012. As many of you are aware, Nintendo has released their last two consoles on a Sunday and if this holds the Wii U would be released approximately 11 years after the Gamecube. The info apparently comes from a leaked internal email from a leading Japanese retailer. The email goes on to state that a Japanese launch would follow a week later, though it doesn’t provide any info on when the console would hit Europe.
If we go back in time for some reference, the original Wii launched in the US on November 19, 2006, then hit Japan two weeks later and then Europe three weeks later and that seemed to work well for Nintendo so make of that what you will. At this point, it looks like Nintendo is going to steal this year’s E3 with both Sony and Microsoft both saying they will not announce anything related to new consoles at E3 2012.
At this point this is just a rumor but what do you all think about this latest news?
