Right now is a quiet period for news on the only next-gen console to be released this year (and possibly 2013 as well), the Wii U. As E3 approaches expect the details on hardware and software to come trickling out, followed by a deluge of information following the Nintendo conference in Los Angeles. Until that time arrives however, we take every piece of news gratefully, in this case that surrounding Assassins Creed 3.
The latest issue of Nintendo Power (which also has the exclusive on Epic Mickey for the 3DS) has the full skinny on exactly how the tablet controller will work with the game, with some predictable and some quite novel uses.
Apparently the controller acts as your link to the Animus machine, effectively being the HUD for the game and allowing the main screen to remove all clutter. So far, to be expected. The tablet will also use its accelerometer to work as your ‘eagle vision’ within the game as well though, using it to point at objects you want to look at in more detail.
Other features include having constant access to the Animus database and the in-game map and also using touch control to swap weapons. Would these additional functions have you choosing the Wii U version over the PS3 or 360 ones, particularly if graphically they were identical or slightly improved on Wii U?
