Double Fine has crushed their wildest dreams in terms of what they had hope to raise on Kickstarter for their game Double Fine Adventure. Back when the project was announced in February they had a modest goal of $400,000. They crushed that in the first twelve hours, after that they were quickly over a million. Today the project ended and Double Fine closed out their funding round by raising over $3.3 million dollars from 87,130 backers. The game will be available for PC, Mac, and Linux initially and it will also make its way to Android and iOS at some later date. Double Fine plans to take the extra $2.8 million dollars or so and use that to translate the game into more languages, improve the audio budget, produce an in-depth documentary and much more.

This project shows what can happen when developers go outside of the box and shows that the players can be a powerful force when motivated.
