It appears that Google’s Android OS is showing no signs of slowing down. Today Google, and more specifically Andy Rubin, announced that Android grew over 250% to 850,000 activations per day. According to the report, this now places “Android devices around the world past 300 million.” Additionally, Google announced that apps in the Android Market have tripled since last year to over 450,000 apps.
This may not be a takeover yet, but it’s on the horizon. And “to celebrate the hard work and success of our developer community, we’ve built special “app pods” into our Android stand at MWC. Many of these featured apps demonstrate the latest Android innovations, such as Android Beam, which lets you share content like web pages, videos, directions, and apps—just by touching two Android phones back to back.”
