Earlier this month Square Enix officially announced Sleeping Dogs, formerly known as True Crime: Hong Kong. At the time, we only had an awesome live action trailer to chew on with no actual gameplay footage. Today we got our first look at a bit of Alpha gameplay courtesy of Machinima that shows off multiple elements of the game including its much-anticipated driving and shooting mechanics. This is a very early build of the game so things are a bit rough but you can definitely see the potential of what this game could turn into. I can’t lie at this point it is looking like Activision might have canceled a hell of a game.
To go along with the video, we got our hands on a bunch of new awesome screenshots that will make you all even more excited about this game. The game is being developed in conjunction with Square Enix London Studios who’s collaboration credits include games like Just Cause 2 and Batman: Arkham Asylum and you can definitely see elements of both games in Sleeping Dogs. There is a chase scene at about 1:34 that shows the kind of visceral gameplay that we are all expecting.
