New Lock Screen With “Quick Camera” Feature And Japanese Siri Support For iOS 5.1 Confirmed

Come On, Share It

We have some exciting news about Apple’s next update for iOS, iOS 5.1 GM. The new update is expected to be available for mass consumption around the second week of March and it looks like we have gotten confirmation on two new features. BGR is now reporting that the lock screen in iOS 5.1 will feature a fixed camera button that will be located next to the “slide to unlock button”. Instead of tapping on it to launch the camera, you just drag the entire unlock section up to reveal the camera finder. This should allow for much quicker picture-taking when you are on the go and need to capture an awesome moment before it’s too late.

On another note, it seems that Siri is getting even more multilingual picking up Japanese as a new language in the Settings area.  According to BGR, there are no major impediments to this release candidate and its release should be all but a formality at this point. Stay tuned as we should have official confirmation from Apple in a week or two.
