Hot on the heels of the most unbelievably premature advertising campaign of all time (TV spots for Resident Evil 6, nine whole months before release!), Capcom has released some interesting new titbits about the.

Despite gamers laying down pre-orders left and right, the game is only currently 50% complete. Better get a shift on lads if you have the holiday number one in your sights! Good news however that apparently the developers are aiming to make this the best Resi game in history. As if they would say anything else. “Actually Famitsu magazine, we here at Capcom are setting our sights on making the third best ever game in the Resident Evil franchise, but at least it will be better than 5; that game stank”. Cant see that one happening somehow.

It has already been revealed that Chris Redfield heads to China during the course of the game but Capcom has now confirmed that the main location in China will be a fictitious coastal town called Lanshiang. There has also been some confusion surrounding when the game is set, so to set the record straight Resident Evil 6 takes place in 2013. A revamped control scheme is also promised which sounds like a compromise between the slower ‘tank’ controls and the more ‘shooter’ type seen in Resident Evil 5. Resident Evil 6 features an evolved control system allowing players to shoot whilst moving; slide; roll in any direction and to take cover along with the addition of an enhanced melee attack.

Finally some storyline details. Apparently the president shown in the trailer isn’t the one from Resi 4, but is instead his successor. The zombies in the game aren’t infected by the T-virus, and there will be a third player controlled character who ‘younger people can relate to’. They are still trying to track down his real identity but we do know this man is a mercenary currently engaged in a bloody conflict in Eastern Europe where reports confirm that B.O.W.s are increasingly being used. One day, he’s told that he is the man to save the world. Whilst he doesn’t understand the implications of this, he does immediately think how much money he can make from it. Uh-oh. Exciting stuff nonetheless to keep us excited for Resident Evil 6’s November release date.
