Metro: Last Light Delayed Until At Least 2013

I was just wondering why we hadn’t heard anything about Metro: Last Light, now we know. THQ has revealed that Metro Last Light has been delayed until at least 2013. Fans had been excited for the sequel to Metro 2033, but THQ has really been under pressure lately and it’s not quite clear at this point how stable the company is financially. Even with a great showing from Saints Row: The Third, the company had more downs than up last year. The company did not give any real tangible details for the delay, though it appears that 4A will still be hard at work on the game.

Normally, we could look on the bright side of delays and say that gives them more time to deliver a better game but a delay of over a year really concerns me, especially given the amount of what we thought was at least post-alpha in-game footage. It seems to me that they may be trying to delay the cost that the marketing and promotion of a major game like Metro: Last Light would require. I won’t speculate but I will say that I think that THQ needs UFC Undisputed 3 to exceed expectations, which it might, or the company could be in serious trouble.
