Call Of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Update v1.08 Hits PS3, Striker And Akimbos Get Re-Balanced

After quite a bit of waiting, patch v1.08 has been released for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on the PS3. The update shouldn’t take long to download coming in at a tiny 22MB, but it apparently brings some decent sized improvements.  The most notable changes are that the Akimbos have been hit with a reduction in their fire rate, the Striker shotgun has been nerfed (reduced) while all other shotguns got a buff. Hopefully, the nerf to the Striker is substantial enough because the ridiculous way people were using it was getting ridiculous. Now folks might actually have to use it on maps where its appropriate like Hardhat versus being able to dominate in huge maps like Interchange. According to the patch notes, the update either fixes or improves the items listed below:

  • Improvement to Mic Quality (PS3 only)
  • HD Video Uploads (PS3 only)
  • Networking enhancements
  • Theater improvements and fixes
  • Further improvements to “Host Disadvantage” / “Lag Comp”
  • Increased speed of YouTube uploads from 32k to 256k
  • Nerf to all Akimbo weapons (reduced fire rate)
  • Shotgun re-balance (Slight nerf to Striker, slight buff to all other shotguns)
  • Fix that prevents some users from not receiving their prestige token after prestiging
  • Fix stat bug that retains “games played” stat across prestiges.
