The fact that the PlayStation Vita is struggling for sales in its homeland is well-known, as is the impact that the Monster Hunter series has in Japan. News of the next game in the series heading to 3DS is doubtless partly responsible for the increasing sales of that machine. What Sony really needs right now is for Monster Hunter to be confirmed as also heading to Vita, something that looks a lot more likely today.
PlayStation France CEO was chatting to French magazine Le Point about the relatively slow start to the Vita in Japan, and he said: “The games available at launch in Japan do not correspond to the typology of the Japanese public. It lacks a particular game, Monster Hunter, scheduled for the coming months. Had it been there from the start in Japan, the story would have been different.”
Not out-and-out confirmation then, and dodgy translation has been known to provide false leads in the past. It certainly looks however like Sony is courting a Monster Hunter game for their portable console to follow off the back of the success the franchise brought them on PSP, and who can blame them?
So what do you think we will see? A conversion of Monster Hunter Tri or 4, or a Vita specific title?
