It’s extremely possible that Motorola is looking to ban the iPhone 5 and iPad 3 before they are even launched. This scenario becomes very plausible in light of Motorola’s Google recent lawsuit against Apple for infringing on “six of its patents involving technologies related to wireless antennae, software, data filtering and messaging.” Though the suit is targeted at the iPhone 4S and “Apple’s iCloud remote storage service for music and other media”, it’s easily foreseeable how this could leak over into the iPhone 5 and iPad 3.
As reported earlier, Motorola has already won “a preliminary injunction against Apple in Germany, which could bar the sale of iPhones and iPad tablets in that country.” This suit, filed in Florida, could have the same ramifications on current and future Apple devices in the US. And what’s to stop the train from rolling into other countries?
Now of course we don’t expect this to happen, but what if it does? How will this affect your decision on purchasing your next smartphone or tablet? What would happen without those long anticipatory lines started days prior to launch? We don’t know, and we don’t want to find out! Any thoughts?
