In days gone by, consoles and handhelds were for playing games on, and that was about it. Nobody was disappointed that they couldn’t catch up on Desperate Housewives on their SNES, or that their Gameboy didn’t come with unlimited music for 30 days. However, the future is MUCH better than the past, fact. And to prove that we can do all these things and more from our super modern machines, one more thing has now been added to one more machine – rejoice!
Netflix has finally been launched in the UK, and over here we now have the choice of either that service or Lovefilm, which has been around for a while. That’s the PS3 taken care of, now what about that crazy new handheld that we hear is either ripping Japan a new one, or selling like dog poo sandwiches, depending on who you listen to? Well good news for any of you planning on getting a Vita. It has been confirmed at CES 2012 that the movie streaming service is on its way to Sony’s newest baby.
Vita owners who subscribe to the plan will be able to stream movies and TV shows to the gorgeous OLED screen, which will certainly make travelling away from home that bit more bearable, if you get sick of Uncharted: Golden Abyss of course. The one fly in the ointment however will be Wi-Fi connection, which you will doubtless need to stream movies. I’m not sure about the US, but certainly over here in blighty you usually need to pay for access in hotels and places, meaning it is only really feasible as an option if your staying away with friends of family for example, and don’t want to watch whatever is on their TV!
Still, if you have already subscribed then this is a nice added extra. Now go ahead and confirm MLB TV for the Vita Uncle Sony!
