VIZIO has announced today that it is moving into the PC business and will introduce five premium personal computers designed to turn the PC market upside down and accommodate the entertainment needs and wants demanded by consumers. Set to launch with Windows 7 in spring 2012, the elegantly designed PCs will provide an entertainment experience only VIZIO can deliver, complete with top notch 2.1 audio and video quality. The personal computing line consists of two all-in-one computers, two thin + light notebooks and one notebook. At first glance, VIZIO moving into the PC game would seem ludicrous, but that is what some people thought when they came on to the HDTV scene almost a decade ago and we know how that turned out. Honestly, I don’t see them being a major player to compete with the likes of HP and Dell, but they could fill a niche market for elegant high-end computers. My biggest issue with this announcement is that there are no real specs and no pricing which leaves us to only wonder. I want to wait and see a bit more but ultimately I think that VIZIO will be successful in this endeavor as well.
VIZIO PCs will be a continued progression of the VIZIO Internet Apps (V.I.A.) Ecosystem, which provides a seamless, cohesive entertainment experience across multiple screens. As the V.I.A. experience spans across the brand’s HDTVs, Blu-Ray players, tablets and more.
