Anonymous Focusing On Sony Execs, Not PSN And Its Users
In a new twist to this ongoing saga, reports are now indicating that Anonymous is targeting Sony executives and not consumers or PlayStation network specifically. According to numerous reports, the group has clarified its position, as much any group with no true leader or governing body could.
Via the chatter in the group’s #OpSony IRC room we get the gist of what is going on. In an area that the group use to plan their activities, the group discussed multiple courses of action including “Doxing” or posting personal documents of Sony executives online. They also discussed other attack options including hacking Sony websites and posting anti-SOPA material. This latest clarification in position falls in line with the group’s previous position that they do not want to inconvenience or disrupt Sony’s customers as a part of their activities. To be clear though, they would “prefer” not to but if there is no other way then they don’t have a problem doing what they need to do as the attacks on Sony last year proved.
