After doing a bit of shopping, I’m sure owners of the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab do not want to hear this news. The Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab will not receive Google’s latest update, Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). According to Samsung, the reason for this poor customer service, as noted by TheVerge, is “that they lack sufficient RAM and ROM to run the new OS alongside TouchWiz and other “experience-enhancing” software.” However, as many have already pointed out, Galaxy S devices have the same hardware as the Nexus S, which is receiving the update.
So why should we blame Samsung? Well if they are going to blame it on TouchWiz, they are essentially blaming it on themselves. Just strip out the crap, and make the update happen. It’s becoming much harder to recommend any other Android device that’s not a Nexus product from Google, because of reasons like this. Users want updates and should be able to receive them. That said, we’re hoping that this changes very soon. If not, we can expect a lot of users to take the Root Route!
How could you alienate one of your best sellers like this? Get it together Samsung!
