This news has been all over the internet since the first rumors started spreading on Monday. Apparently an internal Sony developer is currently beavering away on a multi-character fighting game called “Title Fight” for PlayStation 3 release.
The first trickle of information about this supposed megaton game came courtesy of the internet blog ‘The Paul Gale Network’, which quoted a source at studio SuperBot Entertainment. This source mentioned several PlayStation franchise characters as being included, for example Sweet Tooth, Nathan Drake and Killzone’s Colonel Vidic. Screengrabs showing the Sweet Tooth character in fighting pose do seem to substantiate this information.
The Superbot website does confirm that they are an exclusive SCEA developer, and also various job adverts and icons dotted around the site seem to point towards an online fighting game as being a strong favorite for the ‘yet-to be announced’ title the website confirms they are working on. Sony, rather predictably, have refused to comment. One thing is for sure though, with the buzz already surrounding this rumor, they won’t be able to hold off for long if it is true. CES reveal anyone?
What do you think about these rumors? What characters would you like to see featured if the information is true? Would you prefer a smash bros style madcap game, or a more traditional Tekken or Street Fighter IV type engine? Let us know below, and keep your fingers crossed for a Madison Page appearance!
Update – the latest word is that we may see the game launch around the time of the next James Bond film, Skyfall, which is currently scheduled for late October/early November next year. Due to Sony’s involvement with the film we may also get to see Bond himself as a playable character…
