Enjoy the Opening to Tekken: Blood Vengeance Right Here!

November 22nd is a date to mark in your calendar if you are a Tekken fan. That day sees the release to stores of Tekken Hybrid, an interesting package that we told you about a while ago. If you can draw the Mishima family tree blindfolded, or you count a bear and/or panda amongst your best friends, then this Blu-ray release may just bring your Christmas early, and you can see a sneak preview right here.

The bundle is a 3-in-1 package that collects together an HD version of the original Tekken Tag Tournament game, which debuted waaaaay back at the release of the PS2, a prologue version of the upcoming Tekken Tag Tournament 2 (an extended demo featuring new characters and locations) and the full CG movie Tekken: Blood Vengeance 3D. No cheap cash-in, this is a fully fledged movie produced by Digital Frontier, best known for anime films Appleseed and Summer Wars. It promises to be something special, as you can check out for yourselves below:

Enjoyed that? The full film runs to over 90 minutes, and sees both Ling Xiayou and Alisa Bosconovitch investigating the shadowy G Corporation. If a giant robot and a school uniform don’t turn up at some point during the movie then I will be mightily disappointed. Not a robot WEARING a school uniform though, that would be sick, obviously.

Looking pretty nice for a spruced up PS2 game

Let’s quickly cut to a quote from Katsuhiro Harada, the Tekken project leader. “There’s a lot that TEKKEN fans will learn when they watch TEKKEN Blood Vengeance, and I’m excited to give people this sneak preview. The film is a taste of the future for the TEKKEN franchise and I really want you all to watch it!” You heard the man! Interestingly, Tekken: Hybrid will work in standard blu-ray player as well as a PS3, but obviously in that case you will only have access to the film. Any Tekken lovers who don’t own a PS3 (why?) may also be interested that the upcoming 3DS release, Tekken 3D: Prime Edition, will also contain the CG movie.
