By now most of you will be aware of “PSN Pass” and what it means to you as a gamer. It’s inclusion in Resistance 3 means that those gamers currently getting stuck into the game will already have come across Sony’s latest method to combat re-sales. Now it looks like you had better get used to it, because it seems it isn’t going anywhere.
If you buy all your games new then PSN pass really won’t make a difference to the way you play. EA has incorporated a similar system in their games of late and it basically consists of an online pass that is included in the boxed game to enable you to play their titles online. The problem comes if you decide to buy the game pre-owned, as the pass is one time use.
Uncharted 3 is predictably the next SCEA title to use the pass, with the company telling Destructoid that; “Online Pass will be incorporated into Uncharted 3 and future Sony Computer Entertainment Worldwide Studios games with online functionality. We will provide further information in the future.” What do you make of the decision? Is it a fair way for games company’s to retain lost revenue? Or is it a rip-off in these tight economic times where you may want to save a few dollars by getting a second-hand copy of a game? As usual sound off below.
