Game Of Thrones is one of the biggest franchises out there at the moment, with millions enjoying the books by George RR Martin and the HBO adaptation which is about to enter its second year. For those not in the know, the plot of the books and TV show concern power struggles and family rivalries within a fantasy styled medieval world. The forthcoming game is to be developed by Cyanide, who have already had some success with a game based on the series earlier this year, when they released Genesis, a PC strategy title. Their fantasy roots are also not in question, having also produced the official Games Workshop Blood Bowl game.
It seems that ambitions are high for the title, with heavy rumors that the storyline will follow two new characters and be set during events in the first season, also utilizing many of the real actors from the TV show as voice talent, including Sean Bean. Classic RPG Knights of the Old Republic is also being cited as an influence, with a ‘queuing’ system for combat and many moral choices. Sounds like it could be a good one!
