BioWare has been really busy lately, they are preparing to ship Star Wars: The Old Republic on December 20th and they are probably over half way done with the final installment in the Mass Effect trilogy, Mass Effect 3. Mass Effect is one of the best franchises to come along in a long time and one thing people have always appreciated about the game is that it has so much depth and backstory. There are hundreds of hours of gameplay just in the actual game themselves, now it seems the folks at BioWare are kicking around the idea of a Mass Effect MMO.
The two heads of BioWare Dr. Ray Muzyka and Dr. Greg Zeschuk haven’t ruled out the idea. “You never know. “I think once The Old Republic is done, we’ll take a fresh look at the market. And we’ll have learned a lot. While making it, you learn an enormous amount. It’s one of the nice things about having these properties in our back pocket… If we want to use something we own as a source for a game, it’s easy to do. So yeah, you never know. We’ve got this giant product to launch, but once that’s done we’ll consider next steps” said Zeschuk.
They said more stuff but that is enough for us. Could you imagine a Mass Effect MMO, it would be epic and is one MMO I just might pay to play. There is no doubt that the success of Old Republic will have a big influence on whether this actually happens or not but I’ll just say now that they have our vote.
