It’s very rare that a game can be called a true art masterpiece, and rarer still when two games from a developer meet that high standard. The fact that Team Ico managed to produce two such games, and are working on a third highly anticipated title, make them one of the most well-regarded games companies out there.
If you have never played their classic titles Ico and Shadow of the Colossus then you will be in for a treat, as they are released in HD (and 3D if anyone is interested) on one blu-ray disk of joy this week. What if you have already played them on PS2 though? Is it worth re-investing?
If the upscaled new graphics and trophy support wasn’t enough to tempt you, then maybe the added bonus content might do the job. Any Team Ico fans out there (so basically everyone) will be delighted to delve into a 12 minute behind the scenes video showing the development on all three games from the developer, as well as an original concept video for ‘Nico’, the idea that became Shadow of the Colossus.
In addition to these videos there will be two themes also presented free of charge, one each based on the first two games in the series. Reviews for the collection have predictably been on the great side of marvelous, so whether or not the extras interest you, you should certainly be looking to splash out on a slice of gaming history.
