Final Fantasy XIII-2 Has DLC On The Way, Is It A Good Move?

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is getting DLC and quite a bit of it. This is significant since Square Enix considered releasing DLC for Final Fantasy XIII but put those plan on the back-burner and decided to make a direct sequel and put it in there instead. Producer Yoshinori Kitase said at Tokyo Game Show 2011 that they are making downloadable costumes, monsters, and weapons for Final Fantasy XIII-2. Serah’s story will have downloadable content as well.  It looks like at least some of the DLC will be pre-order bonuses. Hey I like good DLC as much as the next guy but I have heard some people complain that they feel in game’s like this DLC lowers the quality of the base game because devs know they can go and add and fix stuff later.

Final Fantasy XIII-2 is due for release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 December 15 in Japan. Square Enix has it slated for  North American release January 31, 2012 and Europe gets the game on February 3rd.  And if you live in any place besides Japan and were hoping for the  Lightning Edition Ver. 2 PS3 bundle it looks like you are out of luck.
