In the latest bit of bad news for NBA 2K12, we have finally got confirmation via a report by Kotaku that historic teams will NOT be available for use in online play. This was a major disappointment of fans last year and it appears that they won’t get any relief in NBA 2K12. Some folks are already predicting doom for NBA 2K12’s sales with no rookies because of the NBA lockout and now this. Honestly, I think that for real NBA fans the lack of rookies and historic teams online will only be a mild annoyance but I will acknowledge the fact that there are some folks that will be seriously peeved that they can’t jump in to start rebuilding the Cavs with Kyrie Irving and Tristan Thompson or give the Bobcats a boost with Kemba Walker.
So there you have it folks, no historic teams in online play but from what I hear the actual gameplay improvements are substantial and ultimately I think the quality of the game itself will determine sales. Make sure you check out the NBA 2K12 demo when it drops this Tuesday and decide for yourself. And remember that as soon as the NBA settles its lockout 2K Sports has the roster update to get those guys in the game already prepped and ready to go.
Does not being able to use the historic teams online affect your view of the game enough for you not to buy it?
