No Rookies In NBA 2K12 Until NBA Lockout Ends, Still Excited About This Year’s Game?

Unless the NBA Lockout is resolved in the next month (hold your breath for that), NBA 2K12 will NOT feature any of the rookies that were drafted this past June. 2K Sports is in a bit of a different situation that EA was with Madden 12. EA had the rights to the use likenesses of this year’s rookies whether we had a season or not, 2K Sports was not so lucky. Since they don’t have those rights they can not put the rookies in until this whole lockout mess is resolved. But all is not lost.

According to the info, all the guys are actually done, names recorded and what not, they will just be essentially added and activated with a roster update once the NBA resolves its lockout. This is really a devastating set of events and I can appreciate what 2K has tried to do with the new “Greatest Mode” but it just won’t be the same. You won’t be able to start the rebuilding process in Charlotte with Kemba Walker, no shooting outrageously long threes with Jimmer in Sacramento and perhaps the biggest effort to take Kyrie Irving and make the Cavs not suck anymore. I am a huge NBA 2K fan and I am tremendously disappointed, in my sports games I am all about realism and it just can’t be real without “all” the players. I mean how can you put any kind of real-time into an “Association” without rookies, if they aren’t there then its just last year’s game with tons of updates kind of.

The NBA needs to give 2K a waiver or something because this sucks.
