Finally some good news, we seem to have been reporting a lot of studio closings and layoff lately so it’s good to be reporting some good news on this front. It looks like Square Enix is looking to double its staff at Eidos Montreal from roughly 340 people to 680. Eidos Montreal are the folks behind the recently released and mostly well received Deus Ex: Human Revolution (read our review). According to La Presse Affaires, the publisher is seeking CAD $2 million of government investment for the expansion and negotiations are close to final. By 2012 the publisher will create 100 jobs at the studio, with a further 250 by the end of 2015. If everything goes as planned it would make Eidos Montreal the 3rd biggest game studio in the region behind Ubisoft and EA. All we can say about this one is way to go, glad to see companies investing back into the industry and putting people to work.
