Uncharted 3 Will Fill Entire Blu-Ray (That’s A Lot Of Drake)

So, recently we ran an article about id Software pontificating about the potential for RAGE and Doom 4 (which doesn’t exist yet, or so they want us to think..hmmm.) to take up one entire Blu-ray disk.  (Roughly 50GB of data.) And we all stood there and said to ourselves, “Holy crap, that’s a lot of data..” Well, it is, let’s not miss the point here, however Naughty Dog then steps up to the plate at GamesCom this week and drops on the world that Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is currently OVER 50GB in production, but will in-fact be compressed down to fit on a single Blu-ray for release.

Arne Meyer, Naughty Dog community manager said this when discussing the details of the size of Uncharted 3, “I think it really helps. It’s not even about sales. It’s about what we can push on the platform and how far we can take it. I’m sure you’ll hear this from every other Sony developer but you know, I can’t tell you how much we’ve been able to optimize Cell and you know, the amount of content we can put on Blu-ray.”

So, who knows, bigger may in fact be better, but only time will tell.  Uncharted 2 was only roughly 25GB at launch, so Naughty Dog will be doubling the size for Uncharted 3, leaving Drake larger than life.

Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception is still slated for a November release.

I started gaming when it was nothing more than green screens and clunky keyboards. Today, I play everything and anything that provides for a gaming experience. Good, bad, indifferent, and some times even ugly. I'm here to tell you whats up.
