If you loved the original Borderlands like I did, then get ready for an ear to ear grin. Paul Hellquist of Gearbox, has just released some very good news for Borderlands fans. If you played the first game, then you know the missions can get a bit repetitive, usually just asking you to perform one task, or kill an alloted number of enemies. But other than a few key story missions, we didn’t see a lot of multi-objective quests.
Gearbox received some pretty heavy criticism about the missions in the original Borderlands, took that to heart, and is doing something about it in Borderlands 2. While I really liked the first game, I too will admit the missions could become a bit monotonous. Here’s what Paul Hellquist has to say about all of this:
“So story has been, from the very first day, one of the most important things that we wanted to improve in Borderlands 2.”
“The story missions in Borderlands 2 are about three times the scope of a single story mission in the first game. And they twist and turn throughout; your gameplay is changing, your goals are changing… it will be a much more dynamic experience compared to last time.”
“Lots of fans and critics gave us the business on the story. When we took a look at what we had done last time, we said, ‘we can do way better than that,.”
Yeah….. you read that correctly. Sounds like a lot of changes are being made, a lot of good changes. I hope when they present Borderlands 2 at Gamescom , they show us just how much the missions have improved. Wouldn’t mind seeing a few of those flashy new guns either.. “cough”.
