Mortal Kombat Sells 3 Million Copies To Date: Waiting For The Perfect Fatality Opportunity

Hold on to your blood soaked controllers folks, though it may seem a little surprising ( least to me..), but according to official sources the latest outing of the Mortal Kombat series has now sold nearly 3 million units worldwide.  Warner Brothers Interactive president Martin Tremblay had this to say, “With the launch of Mortal Kombat, we have already paid for the acquisition of the Midway assets, and we are just beginning to leverage this acquisition with much more to come.”

Okay, so 3 million units worldwide doesn’t seem like much when you look at most major gaming releases.  However, when looked at via other releases its success is even more surprising:  Based on recent numbers Super Street Fighter IV is currently at 1.6 million units to date and Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 has sold nearly 2 million units.

I started gaming when it was nothing more than green screens and clunky keyboards. Today, I play everything and anything that provides for a gaming experience. Good, bad, indifferent, and some times even ugly. I'm here to tell you whats up.
