If you were a Commodore Amiga (or possibly PC) owner back in the early to mid nineties, the name Syndicate will probably be very familiar to you. Produced by Bullfrog, one of the premier teams of its day, Syndicate saw you controlling a team of cybernetic agents, tasked with making your company top dog through any means necessary. Assassination, corporate espionage and kidnapping were all deemed standard business procedure in the cyberpunk influenced future, and gamers loved it. So much in fact that there have been steady clamors for a re-launch of the series, and now it seems that Starbreeze Studios could be the ones to answer the prayer
Starbreeze, makers of the The Darkness and The Chronicles of Riddick: Escape from Buther Bay, have revealed through Twitter that they will be showing their Project Redlime to the press very shortly, with Gamescom of course due next week. Project: Redlime has long been rumored to be the codeword for rebirth of the Syndicate name. If this is the case, Starbreeze may be the perfect choice for developer, given their love of dark source material. Will we be seeing yet another first person shooter though, or will the game stay loyal to its strategic roots? Thoughts below as usual!
