Another Streaming Option For Your PS3, PS3 Media Server (a.k.a SharkHunter)

For those of you that are unfamiliar with Boxee Box, it is a device that allows you to stream movies, and other media from the Internet to your television. A new program called “SharkHunter” will allow you to do this with your PS3 in combination with your internet connected PC without the purchase of any other hardware. In the past, we have told you about other similar options like TVersity, but we are always trying to bring you the latest and greatest.

Some of the more popular channels supported currently are Navi X, IceFilms, and even some live television channels. While the software is only in its beta phase, it is functional and free to the public for download. What have you got to lose?

How does it work?¬† Basically the software takes the media from the websites or “channels” as they are sometimes referred to,then streams them from there to your PC. Once your PC receives the data, it encodes it to PS3 friendly formats, and is sent to your PS3¬†over a wireless connection. Your PS3 then displays the media on your television. The software is easy to install and set up on your PC, but does have a lot of advanced settings to play around with. While the software is optimized for PS3, it will work with Xbox 360 as well. You can download the software for free from HERE.

If you download it and try it out, let us know what you think.
