Google announced today that its social networking site Google+ will soon have its own games. Much like Facebook, you will be able to play these games with other members of Google+. In fact, a small set of users already have access to them. Initial games included are Bejeweled Blitz, Angry Birds, and Dragon Age Legends. As you may know, Google is a large investor in Zynga (roughly 200 million dollars last year alone), so expect to see a lot more of their games coming soon though we wouldn’t expect Farmville or Cityville which may be Facebook exclusives.
Additionally, Google will not be requiring the 30% profit cut from game developers that Facebook does which will probably make it more attractive to new developers, and we may possibly even see some make the switch. Google promises that Games won’t clog your stream and will only appear in their own special tab…for now. Let us know what you think.
