Sony Replaces The PSP Of A Student Who Was Beaten And Mugged During London Riots

If you have been following the disturbing news of the UK riots earlier this week you will probably have come across the story of Ashraf Hazik. A Malaysian student, Ashraf had the misfortune to be caught up in the disturbing events and suffered a broken jaw and other injuries. To add to his suffering, a mobile phone video then showed a couple of youths seemingly there to help him up, and then whilst he was disorientated, steal the contents of his backpack and leave him shell shocked and bewildered.

I'm sure he would have preferred a Vita, but still good work Sony!

In order to help Ashraf a website has been set up to collect donations and ideas for assistance. One of the posts on this page was a comment by the ‘marketing director’ for SCEE who commented Sony would like to replace Ashraf’s PSP and games. Although the username ‘albinolove333’ and some of the grammar in the post suggested it may not be a genuine post by a Sony rep, website VG 24/7 also stated that an SCEE employee had commented ‘If we can find out how to get it to him we’ll replace the PSP’. A later post by ‘albinolove333’ confirmed the PSP and games (some apparently contributed by Namco Bandai) had been delivered to the Malaysian High Commission.

I'm a UK based gamer, as well as being more obsessed with video games and Doctor Who that any adult has a right to be. I keep telling myself I will grow up one day, but certainly not if I can help it.
